In my work, I plan for chance. A process of repetition and muscle memory reveals patterns, evolution, and entropy. When I become aware of patterns, I wonder if they are instinctual, like animals on a cyclical migratory path, or are they acquired habits? I am interested in the interplay between the static and movement. A painting doesn’t move of its own accord but it is movement adjacent. They are never truly immobile by virtue of being experienced through our breathing bodies, the earth’s rotation, or vibrations from machines or sounds. My marks document these fluctuations.
