If zombies were a reality, would they be as invulnerable as they are usually portrayed, or slowly consumed by detritus eaters and hunted by scavengers? I am making the super-natural natural. This current ongoing series, the replacements, began as a reaction to the things I read in the news concerning science, nature, health and the environment. I became particularly interested in cloning. At the same time, I seemed to be surrounded by films and books starring zombies. The two interests melded to become replacements of naturally occurring mammals.

While this series started out as a humorous play on the "what if's" of cloning practices around the globe, the series has become a way to explore nature in more detail. I enjoy researching flora, fauna and fungi, and how they work together to create our world. The research into cloning led to the subject of invasive species, thus giving the work a local focus. While creating a surreal situation in my works, I want to informally communicate to the viewer natural relationships that are based in fact.
